Trip to Cali

So I guess I am catching up on all of my blogging now that school is OVER and I have NOTHING to do besides wait to get a job.  I have applied for 11 jobs in Nebo School District, which is where Ryan teaches.  For those of you familiar with the area its Springville down to Santaquin.  I am applying for openings at schools in Spanish Fork and Mapleton.  It's really tough right now finding a job so hopefully the Principals will see something different in me that they like.

If you don't know yet Ryan got a job teaching Health next year at Springville Junior High!  He will be teaching 8th and 9th grade Health on extended day, which means he gets paid extra for not having a prep period.  I will take all the extra money I can get at this point!

A few weeks ago we were able to make a trip to California with the Spanish Fork High baseball team.  Ryan coaches the sophomores which weren't even there but he did help with Varsity.  The team was in a tournament in the Anaheim area and put us up in a Marriot for a week which was super nice.  I was excited to just relax and enjoy some down time!

Ryan and I at Angels Stadium watching the Red Sox game.  I guess I was good luck cause the only game we went to the Sox won!  It was a really great game and a nail biter at the end.  Surprisingly Red Sox Nation was alive and well in California cause there were a TON of Red Sox fans!  I was really happy to see a great game and be in the baseball atmosphere.

We went to Newport Beach and it was BEAUTIFUL out!  While were were in Cali, it snowed 8 inches of snow in Utah so I was glad to be in the high 70's while it was in the low 30's in Utah.

Ryan and I at the Pier after dinner at Ruby's Diner.  IT was way yummy.  We were able to spend a lot of time with Ryan's parents which was really nice.  It worked out that Easter fell on that weekend so we were able to have easter dinner with Family.

Graduation is this Friday and I am gearing up to get it over with.  Ryan's family, my brother Jared and his wife, and Ian and his family are coming out for it!  My parents unfortunately are not gonna be able to make it.  So we are gonna video tape it for them.

If you would like to watch the commencement you can go to the link   www.uvu.edu/broadcast  It starts at 10:30 am MST and supposedly it is live.  President Monson is speaking so I am sure it will be great.

Ryan's 1/2 Marathon

Ryan ran the Provo half marathon a few weeks ago and did AWESOME!  He finished in 1:43 min which is quite an accomplishment.  He placed 105th out of 784 people running.  He was 23rd in his division out of 128 and placed 81 out of 253 guys.  It was FREEZING out and was snowing for some of it.  He said he didn't have a hard time but I was definitely cold and wishing that it was warmer.

Ryan and I before the race.  Isn't he cute?!

Ryan and his friend Greg running together.  Greg finished about 3 minutes before Ryan.

This is about mile 12, right by where we live in Provo.  He is pretty wiped at that point.

Ryan and Greg recovering after the Race.  At least they didn't throw up!

Blogs to Watch

I have found some new blogs that I check EVERY day cuz they are so awesome.  The first one is giveawaytoday.blogspot.com .  They highlight different companies and all you have to do is write your name as a comment and the next day they will use a random way of picking to pick the winner.  I haven't won anything yet, but it is still fun to try!

The other one is shoppinghigh.blogspot.com .  This one posts all sorts of deals every day.  They post coupons, free stuff, and great shopping sales.  Free is Free and I will take what I can get!

I also want to put a link up for my friend.  She just started her own little business selling bows and shoes for babies.  These little shoes and bows are sooo cute!  THey are pretty reasonably priced as well, plus they are made with love by Kylee!
That link is mulberrybabygifts.blogspot.com

1/2 Marathon

Before the Big Race (Ryan, Bethany, and Cat)

So If you didn't know already Ryan and I ran a half marathon on saturday.  A few months ago we were talking to Angie( my sister-in-law) who was training to run a full marathon.  She wanted us to run it with her.  I knew that was out of the question.. there was no way I could or would run 26.2 miles.  So the 13.1 miles for the half didn't sound nearly as bad.  Anyway we looked and found that the st. george half marathon was this past saturday and decided that we would start training.  My friend Cat also decided to run too, she did her first half last year.  Anyway after a few months of training in the FREEZING cold... I AM DONE!!!  wahoo!!!  There is much rejoicing in the Chambers house.  We ran twice in the bitter cold for our training.  One was 10 miles and it was 10 degrees outside, the other was 8 miles and it was 9 degrees outside.  On the last one we went on my friend Cat had icicles on her eyelashes.  Needless to say, the race is done and the training is done... hallelujah!

We are planning on running a team race in June.  It is called the Wasatch Back and its from Logan, Utah to Park City, Utah.  It is roughly around 180 miles.  Your team of 12 takes turn running about 5 mile legs, each person running 3 legs throughout the race.  It will be a lot of fun  and should take around 24 hours.

Ryan also wants to try running the Park City 1/2 marathon in August.  He really held back with this one because he wanted to stay with me the whole time.  He is interested in seeing how fast he can really run it.  I am done for now and will stick to 5k's.... haha.  But I am proud of myself that I set a goal and actually finished it.  I have never been a runner so this was a HUGE accomplishment for me.  In the beginning I couldn't run 1 mile without stopping and by the end of my training I ran for 13 miles straight.

Us at about half way... Blake (Cat's husband was taking pictures)

We were on the last leg here and you can tell Ryan was really happy to be done.  He told me that I had to beat the old lady (# 2091).  I couldn't let her beat me so I got a burst of energy and pushed past her in the last leg.  Cat finished shortly behind us.

crossing the finish line... or close to it.. there is an end in sight!

After the 13 miles... and we are still looking happy!

Halloween!!

Well for Halloween this year I decided that I would do a flashback to the 80's.  I had a lot of fun dressing up and being crazy.  Here I am at work with some sunglassess that we sell... (I can't believe people would actually wear these for real!!)
On Halloween night a couple in our ward had a bunch of us over for a little fire and food and games.  Some of the girls went out to the garage and played some pool.  Cat and I won.. woohoo!
Me and Benson at the Tunk or Treat
Ryan the fat chef and Benson the cute little cowboy...
Some of us at the trunk or treat... I love Cat and Blake's grape costume!
Ryan sleeping at Adrienne's part on thursday night... I guess when you are a fat chef you get sleepy pretty easily.

Me and my babe at the party!
80's girl!  the blue eye shadow and eye liner was the BEST!

Lake Powell

We were fortunate enough to enjoy a wonderful vacation with Matt, Angie, Ian, Susan, and all the kids to Lake Powell. It was so relaxing and fun just to be with family and be on the water. It was really really hot every day but when we got hot we just jumped in the water, which was the perfect temperature!
Jayson, Bethany, and Jaime tubing off the boat.
We went cliff jumping which was a lot of fun.  Even jayson and Jaime jumped off.  This is sean going off one of the higher parts of the cliff, he was much braver than me.

Ryan jumped off the top too.  He has perfect form here and in right after this he straitens his arms off and looks like a pencil.

Here is Ryan knee boarding... he did pretty good on that but not so hot skiing.
Sean was awesome at knee boarding... and also didn't do well water skiing which really surprised me cuz he is an awesome skier on the mountains... oh well I guess he can't be good at everything.
There were lots of fish swimming around our boat so the kids and Ryan did quite a bit of fishing.  I believe this is a cat fish ryan caught using crumpled up bread as bait.
Taylor fell asleep after a long day of swimming and being in the sun.  Taylor and Jason can sleep anywhere at anytime when they are tired... I wish I could be like that.
Bethany in the water... I was probably peeing.   That was one of the rules of the houseboat.. if you had to pee you jumped in the water.  It took me awhile to get used to that cuz I have a hard time peeing in water... but it was much easier by the end of our trip.  I am very proud of myself.
Yay!  I was able to water ski!  Skiing is one thing that I am better at than Ryan.. which really makes me happy.
Susan was awesome on the ski's.  She popped up and down at her leisure.  We were both pretty sore after that day though.  Our muscles definitely weren't used to being used like that.
Ryan had a pretty sweet fall on the knee board.  I am impressed that our camera was able to catch such a great picture.
Susan, Jayson, and Ryan all had their straw hats to shade them from the sun.  They just had to get a picture all together with the "cool" kids.
Jayson and Taylor are best buds and glad that they were able to spend the week together in paradise.
The cute little ones on the speedboat at lake powell.

We had to take a pit stop on the way to our sleeping spot to pee and to cool off.  The water was sooo nice and the weather was perfect.
